Dog cockle or amande de mer as it’s named in France are large clams, about three times the size of a regular cockle.

They are wild salted water dog cockles and are picked in nature near the North American coast. This shellfish has a tender flesh compared to the normal cockle. The shell is brown and orange, whilst the clam is creamy in texture.
